The Vineyard

Coyote's Run vineyard is a 58 acre property located in St. David's, a small town outside of the city of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario Canada. This land has always been used to produced some of the best grapes in Niagara. Coyote's Run dedicated roughly 25 acres of the property to Pinot Noir, Chardonney, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Vidal, and Pinot Gris grapes.

The vineyards ideal location allows the grapes to harvest 1 to 2 weeks earlier than most of the other vineyards because of the 2 to 3 degree increase in temperature compared to most wineries. Another advantage this winery has is the soil where the grapes grow, the heavy limestone clay. The vineyard is split into two sections of soil with one being dark limestone clay, for an earthy taste, and the rare red limestone clay, for a fruitier flavour.

Lailey Vineyard NOTL, ON

Lailey Vineyard

The land where the vineyard now stands has been growing grapes since 1970, when the 20 acre farm was converted into a vineyard. Vitis Vinifera and French hybrids were planted here for the production of quality wines at Niagara Wineries. In 2003 the vineyard expanded by adding an extra 3 acres of land to plant Pinot Noit, Petit Verdot, Semillon and Malbec. In the same year, Lailey Vineyard stopped using herbicides and moved to mechanical and manual maintenance. The Lailey Vineyard increased the length of the growing season by installing fans in 2004. These Fans also protect the vines from the harsh winter season.

Overview

Cave Spring wines are made from vitis vinifera, the classic grape varieties of Europe. By working with classic varieties which are well suited to Niagara's cool climate, Cave Springs' winemakers are able to capture the goût de terroir which makes the Beamsville Bench unique.

Situated on the finest slopes of the Beamsville Bench, the Cave Spring Estate was first planted in 1978, making it one of Niagara's most mature vinifera vineyards. By planting at densities of 4500 vines per hectare, twice Niagara's average, we are able to increase competition among the vines for vital ground nutrients.

The grape growing at this vineyard began in 1946 when John Lizak planted the seeds for the fruit farm along a huge farmland. In 1990's the winery was opened by John's grandson Paul. The vineyard now stretches over 200 acres and features a variety of fruits and signature grapes to create some of the best wines in the Niagara Peninsula. Priding itself on producing unique wines, Legends Estate Winery features a distinctly dry Fruit Wine Collection, an exclusive VQA award winning wine collection, and now icewines and special reserves. The main varietals of Legends Estates are the Chardonneys, Gewurztraminer, Cabernet-Franc and Meritage.

Malivoire Winery

Malivoire Wine Company Ltd.

The look and feel of the entire winery, starting with the entrance were inspired by the rugged Canadian Shield. Malivoire Winery's two priorities are to use and re-use natural resources while reinforcing the Canadian Identity of the winery. Martin malivoire and Moira Saganski purchased an area of land in 1995 below the Escarpment in the Beamsville Bench sub-appellation to build the winery. With climate similar to that of Burgundy in northeastern France, Malivoire winery dedicates 50 acres of the vineyard to planting varieties similar to Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Gamay, and Pinot Noir. Along with the onsite vineyard, this winery stewards two vineyards in Jordan and Vineland Ontario, the Epp Vineyard and the Eastman Vineyard.
